How we make our furniture

Here at Ottena we only ever use timber that has come from forests and plantations that are sustainable. Through strict controls and monitoring these areas are kept sustainable. The teak that we use comes from Javanese plantations that are controlled under the SVLK certification scheme. This scheme is in place to ensure the legitimacy of the teak we use and stops any foul play taking place. We have recently introduced a tree planting scheme to our business that will plant a tree, on your behalf, for every order that is placed with us here at Ottena.

Our manufacturer constructs our solid teak Adirondacks, benches and patio sets to the highest standards using mainly traditional joinery methods. In using these methods we try to keep the use of other metals and plastics low. Where we do use these materials we always ensure that this is kept to an absolute minimum level.

More planet concious as a brand

Ensuring we are doing everything we can as a business to help minimise our environmental impact is very important to us here at Ottena. The timber that we source only ever comes from plantations or forests that are controlled under their relevany guidelines to ensure they are kept sustainable. Recently we have introduced a tree planting scheme that we offer to all of our customers. This scheme is fantastic and will plant a tree for every order that you place with us here at Ottena. A great way to be giving a little back to our environment. 

We are constantly looking at ways to improve our packaging and delivery whilst still maintaining the level of protection we need when sending wooden furniture through courier networks. We still use bubble wrap and cardboard as this gives the best protection for your order but we make sure that the bubble wrap we use is fully recyclable once not needed anymore. To further help we will send our larger items and orders via a pallet delivery service to help cut down the amount of packaging being used.
